Cookie Notice

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.

GCA uses as few cookies as possible – we have zero interest in tracking you across the internet, and even less interest in serving you personalised ads. However, the site is built using WordPress, and some of the plugins do place cookies that we can’t stop – but our web dev has worked REALLY HARD to make sure that this is the absolute minimum – and there are absolutely no trackers, beacons, social media stalkerware or third party cookies.

Here are the cookies we do use:

Name Purpose Persistence Type Notes
_lscache_vary to provide the prevention of cached pages. 2 days Functional Necessary to ensure the website provides up to date information and not cached information (if incorrect information is served, the website is considered broken).
wfwaf-authcookie This cookie allows the Wordfence firewall to detect logged in users and allow them increased access. It also allows Wordfence to detect non-logged in users and restrict their access to secure areas. The cookie also lets the firewall know what level of access a visitor has to help the firewall make smart decisions about who to allow and who to block. 1 day Security Necessary to keep the site secure and prevent unauthorised logins. GCA are fully aware that some privacy pedants will say that as this is not strictly necessary as per Art 6 of PECR, that GCA must obtain consent for the cookie to be deployed. Do you honestly think that a bad actor will provide consent to a technology being used to try to protect a business? No – us either. And we will stand by the decision to protect ourselves if we need to.
